Free Pattern Lucky Charm

I’ve written out my first English crochet pattern. It is not tested, so if you’re feeling crafty and adventurous, do give it a try! These lucky charms make anybody’s heart melt. 🙂

Pattern Lucky Charm (American Crochet Terms)

Finished stuffie measures approx. 5,5 inches tall.

Materials:
– Size D (3mm) crochet hook
– Yarn in purple and beige (50g = 125m)
– Embroidery floss in black
– Poly-fil stuffing
– Tapestry needle
– Ribbon, if you want 🙂

Abbreviations:
Ch = Chain
SS = Slip Stitch
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
Dec = Single Crochet Decrease
Inc = Single Crochet Increase
Rd. = Round
R.= Row
rep = repeat

Special Stitch:
Great Puff Stitch = (Yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull lp through st and make lp same height as previous sts in working row, pull only through 2 lps) for 5 times, yo, pull through all 6 lps on hook.

Note: I worked in continuous rounds (vs. joined rounds).

Head and body:
With purple.
Rd.1: Magic ring, make 5 SC in ring. (5 SC)
Rd.2+3: SC in each stitch around. (5 SC)
Rd.4: Inc, SC, Inc, SC, Inc. (8 SC)
Rd.5: SC in each stitch around. (8 SC)
Rd.6: Inc, SC 2, Inc, SC 2, Inc, SC. (11 SC)
Rd.7: SC in each stitch around. (11 SC)
Rd.8: SC 4, Inc, SC 6. (12 SC)
Rd.9: *SC 1, Inc*, rep 6 times. (18 SC)
Rd.10: *SC 5, Inc*, rep 6 times. (21 SC)
Rd.11: *SC 6, Inc*, rep 6 times. (24 SC)
Rd.12: *SC 11, Inc*, rep 2 times. (26 SC)
Rd.13: *SC 12, work 3SC in the next stitch*, rep 2 times. (30 SC)
Rd.14: *SC 13, work 3SC in the next stitch*, rep 2 times, SC 2. (34 SC)
Rd.13: SC 14, work 3SC in the next stitch, SC 16, work 3SC in the next stitch, SC 2. (38 SC)
Rd.16-19: SC in each stitch around. (38 SC)
Rd.20: Change to beige: SC in each stitch around. (38 SC)
Rd.21: *SC 17, Dec*, rep 2 times. (36 SC)
Rd.22+23: SC in each stitch around. (36 SC)
Rd.24: *SC 7, Dec*, rep 4 times. (32 SC)
Rd.25: *SC 6, Dec*, rep 4 times. (28 SC)
Rd.26: *SC 2, Dec*, rep 7 times. (21 SC)
Stuff with poly fil.
Rd.27: *SC 1, Dec*, rep 7 times. (14 SC)
Rd.28: *Dec*, rep 7 times. (7 SC)
Rd.29: SC in each stitch around. (7 SC)
Rd.30: SC 2 in each SC around. (14 SC)
Rd.31: *SC 1, Inc*, rep 7 times. (21 SC)
Rd.32: *SC 2, Inc*, rep 7 times. (28 SC)
Stuff with poly fil.
Rd.33: *SC 3, Inc*, rep 7 times. (35 SC)
Rd.34+35: SC in each stitch around. (36 SC)
Rd.36: *SC 4, Inc*, rep 7 times. (42 SC)
Rd.37-42: SC in each stitch around. (42 SC)
Rd.43: *SC 5, Dec *, rep 6 times. (36 SC)
Rd.44: SC in each stitch around. (36 SC)
Rd.45: In back loops only: : *SC 4, Dec*, rep 6 times. (30 SC)
Rd.46: *SC 3, Dec*, rep 6 times. (24SC)
Rd.47: *SC 2, Dec*, rep 6 times. (18 SC)
Finish stuffing with poly fil, but not too much. It should be flat.
Rd.48: *SC 1, Dec*, rep 6 times. (12 SC)
Rd.49: *Dec*, rep 6 times. (6 SC)
Fasten off and close gap.

Arm (x2):
With beige.
Rd.1: Magic ring, make 7 SC in ring. (7 SC)
Rd.2-4: SC in each stitch around. (7 SC)
Rd.5: Dec, SC 3, Dec. (5 SC)
Rd.6-12: SC in each stitch around. (5 SC)
Fasten off and leave long end for sewing. Do not stuff. Sew arm to body.

Leg (x2):
With beige.
Rd.1: Magic ring, make 5 SC in ring. (5 SC)
Rd.2: SC 2 in each SC around. (10 SC)
Rd.3: Crochet in each of the first three stitches a „Great Puff Stitch“ ( see above). Inc, SC, Inc, SC, Inc, SC, Inc. (14 stitches)
Rd.4: SC in each SC around. (14 SC)
Rd.5: *Dec*, rep 7 times. (7 SC)
Fasten off and leave long end for sewing. Do not stuff. Sew legs to body in front of the belly. Embroider a little cross to the belly for a belly button.

Ear (x2):
With beige.
Rd.1: Magic ring, make 3 SC in ring. (3 SC) Do not close the magic ring.
Fasten off and leave a long end for sewing to the head. Embroider a little nose with beige yarn.

Using black embroidery floss, embroider eyes onto the face.

Your lucky charm is now complete! 🙂
